Following the difficult fishing conditions at our previous outing, the Ellem Fishing Club set off to the internationally renowned Lake of Menteith trout fishery. Whilst the warm and dry weather conditions had generally persisted in recent weeks, we were all looking forward to the forecasted cooler temperatures with some passing showers. The fishing did not disappoint!
The fifteen members and guests netted 42 trout. Robbie Bell had the heaviest 3-fish basket weighing in at 10lbs, followed by Doug Sanderson (8lb) and Keith Orr (7lb). Top rod on the day was Davie Birse (10 fish) with George Wood netting the heaviest trout at 4lb 8ozs. Well done all of you!
Afterwards, our regular early evening meal at The Lion & Unicorn restaurant in nearby Thornhill did not disappoint either.
Thank you to both the fishery and the restaurant for their hospitality on the day.
