The Club’s final outing of the 2025 season took place at Chatton Fishery on Thursday 2nd October. Weather conditions on the day turned out more favourable than forecasted with moderate winds and variable cloud cover. Coupled with the recent general cooling down of fishing conditions, the expectations of the 16 members and guests who came along were cautiously optimistic.
The fishing did not disappoint! More than half the members returned a 4-fish basket, with Duncan Graham taking top honours with his 9lb 8ozs, followed by Ricky Amos (9lb) and John Haswell (7lb 14ozs). Not for the first time this season, both Davie Birse was top rod (12) and George Wood returned the heaviest fish (3lb 14ozs). Well done to all these anglers! A total of 45 fish were landed.
Afterwards the members and their guests gathered in the nearby Percy Arms for an enjoyable early evening dinner, including of course some inevitable discussion on ‘what might been’.
Thank you to both Chatton Fishery and the Percy Arms for their hospitality.
That’s it for 2025. Next stop is the Club’s Annual Dinner and AGM later in the month, where the presentation of medals and trophies to this year’s winners will take place.
