The Ellem Fishing Club’s 2026 season got underway at Chatton Lakes Fishery on Thursday 16th April. Weather conditions on the day were ideal for the 15 members and guests, although there was significant variation in the day’s catches.
Last year’s Gold Medal winner Robbie Bell returned the heaviest 3-fish basket (7lb), followed by the 2025 Club Champion Davie Birse (6lb 6oz) and James Haswell (5lb 6oz). Davie was also top rod with 9 fish. Well done to all of you.
After the conclusion of the fishing, the anglers retired to the nearby Percy Arms for an evening meal and an exchange of conversations on the day’s achievements (or otherwise!)
